“As a Quantity Surveyor, I am responsible for all commercial aspects of the projects I am involved in. As a key member of the project team, no two days are ever the same in a fast paced and dynamic environment working on some of the most prestigious jobs within the industry. Key aspects of my role include; dealing with all financial and contractual duties such as procurement, contract administration, value engineering, costing and valuing variations and liaising with the supply chain (clients, design teams, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers etc). “The role of Commercial Manager is both varied and challenging. I am responsible for the commercial performance of all the projects in the area and this involves working closely with the Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Manages, site teams, etc. on each of the Projects to ensure that the jobs run smoothly and that all issues arising are dealt with promptly. The scope of the role includes all matters that could have a commercial impact on the project including contractual, legal, insurance, programming and planning while ensuring that all parties from the Client to the Design Team are kept fully informed of these issues as they arise to provide mutually positive outcomes for all ” (Paul McDermott, Commercial Manager)
