The history of the Group’s construction activities in the area Asia Pacific goes back to the early twentieth century, when Netherlands Harbourworks executed projects in China and Indonesia. Since the early 1970s our company has successfully extended its civil engineering activities into other countries in the area.

Over the last 30 years, many marine and building projects have been designed and constructed by BAM in Asia Pacific such as Unilever’s Indonesian head office in Indonesia, the Amcor packaging plant in Pasuruan, Indonesia, the GTV Hotel in Cikarang, Indonesia and the Vale jetty in Malaysia.

BAM International has been active in Area Australia since 1964. In that fifty-year period we have successfully delivered – in joint ventures – major and complex nearshore marine projects in Australia and Papua New Guinea such as: the Iron ore loading berth and wharf extension AP5, Port Hedland in Australia, the LNG product loading jetty in Darwin, Australia and the Module Offloading Facility (MOF) in Darwin, Australia.

At present BAM’s focus in the area is on continuing our successes in nearshore marine projects and capitalising on other BAM Group capabilities in infrastructure, tunnelling and stadium projects across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Within the Asia Pacific/Australia area we operate on a regional as well as a national basis. From our area offices in Perth (Australia), Jakarta (Indonesia) and Singapore, we offer our customers a single-point approach where our shared knowledge, skills and experience can benefit major building and civil engineering projects of any size and complexity.

Alongside the delivery of our projects, we have embraced corporate social responsibility initiatives to enhance health, safety and education for the local population. In the Asia Pacific/ Australia area the main activities carried out include supporting local community schools, blood donation programs, fundraising for various health causes and trainings to local workers.
